The Summer Olympics is Exactly What is Needed to Put the UK Back on its Feet, Believes the Per DM CEO
"All of the world would be watching London and it was a chance for the UK to flex its muscles," explains the Per DM CEO.

CHESTER, ENGLAND, January 15, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The benefits and implications of hosting the Olympics this summer has long been debated amongst politicians and the London community alike. Jesse Young, CEO of Per DM, one of the UK's leading outsource sales companies, believes that there is good reason to believe that the advantages of hosting the largest sporting event in the world far outweigh any potential negatives that it may bring.

There was great euphoria around the UK immediately following their successful bid in 2005 to hold the Olympics in London in 2012. "All of the world would be watching London and it was a chance for the UK to flex its muscles," explains the Per DM CEO. However, following the crash of the financial sector two years later in 2007, the general consensus was that the Olympics had become an unnecessary burden that was hard to bear.

At an estimated total cost of GBP7.3 Billion, the London Olympics is certainly not cheap and as the UK enters a period of austerity, many are questioning whether the money would have gone to better use had the Olympics not taken place. "It is important to remember that the budget extends far beyond the construction of the Olympic stadium and village," says Jesse Young. "Much of this will go to the improvement of transport infrastructure, a fundamentally important move for any growing city," he went on to explain.

There are of course, a number of other important benefits the Olympics will bring, as the Per DM CEO clarified. "The obvious advantage is the boost in tourism the games will provide. London is one of the most important international transport hubs and is perfectly position to receive thousands of tourists everyday if needs be." Certainly, the construction of the Olympic park in the Stratford alongside the new Westfield Shopping Centre has already seen a boost for tourism in the area.

Indeed, as the PerDM CEO argues, the Olympics has created thousands of jobs which would otherwise have been lost during the financial crisis, and has rejuvenated and developed an area of London which would have struggled throughout the economic downturn. "Although the Olympics has cost GBP7.3 Billion, the great majority of that money has been spent with British companies, and has really acted as a cash injection by the government into the London community," Jesse Young added.

Some may continue to be critical of the 2012 Olympics seeing them as a waste of money. However everyone at PerDM believes that the Olympics will bring stimulus to the economy and give a much needed boost to the country's morale at just the right time.
